COVID-19 FAQ

COVID-19 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below is a list of frequently asked questions and/or situations that we have or anticipate encountering here at Millennium Dance Company through the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as our guidelines on managing them. As always, if you have any questions, please contact the studio directly at info@millenniumdancecompany.com.

What do I do if my child begins showing symptoms of COVID-19 at home?

For the safety of all at the studio, please contact the studio to update us that your child will not be in class, and that they are exhibiting symptoms. All dancers and adults showing symptoms must remain out of the studio for 14 days, or until they have received clearance from a doctor/a negative COVID test. Zoom options are available; please contact the studio.

What do I do if a family member is showing symptoms of COVID-19 at home, but not my dancer? Or if I know my dancer and family have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID 19?

For the safety of all at the studio, please contact the studio to update us that your child will not be in class, as a family member is exhibiting symptoms. All dancers and adults showing symptoms, or in a home where an immediate family member they are in direct contact with is showing symptoms, must remain out of the studio for 14 days, or until they have received clearance from a doctor/a negative COVID test. Zoom options are available; please contact the studio.

What if I am confident that my child is exhibiting symptoms of the common cold? Do they still need to stay out of the studio?

For the safety of all at the studio, yes. Due to the fact that so many symptoms are similar to that of COVID, the only way to be sure is to be tested. All dancers and adults showing symptoms must remain out of the studio for 14 days, or until they have received clearance from a doctor/a negative COVID test. Zoom options are available; please contact the studio.

If we are symptom free, but prefer to take zoom class, is that an option?

Yes! Please contact the studio to make arrangements.

What happens if a teacher is showing symptoms of COVID-19? Or a family member of a teacher is showing symptoms of COVID-19?

For the safety of all in the studio, and MDC staff member showing symptoms of COVID, or any staff member with direct family showing symptoms of COVID, must remain out of the studio for 14 days, or until they have received clearance from a doctor/a negative COVID test. As our faculty is able, we will still continue to teach via zoom, and will still be able to allow our dancers into the classrooms, under the direction of our assistants and additional staff, while their original teacher is still able to teach virtually from their home. We feel this method will still allow our dancers the ability to take class in the studio, with their regular teacher, while having additional MDC staff and assistants on hand to provide on the spot feedback.

What happens if a dancer is either showing symptoms of COVID during class, or is complaining of not feeling well/COVID symptoms during class time?

We understand that aches and pains are not uncommon, especially with small children. It is the responsibility of each family to assure that prior to entering the building, their child has been fever and symptom free without aid for the past 72 hours, and is not exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms. However, in the event that a child complains

of headache, sore throat, fever, and/or additional COVID symptoms during their time at MDC, a staff member will remove them from class and take their temperature. If the temperature is above 100 degrees, a parent will be contacted immediately for pick up. Dancers will not be able to return to the studio until they have been cleared by a doctor/received a negative covid test. In the event that the temperature is normal, if a dancer is still not well enough to attend class, a parent will be contacted immediately for pick up. Dancers will not be able to return to the studio until they have been cleared by a doctor/received a negative covid test.

What happens if a dancer in my child’s class tests positive for COVID-19?

If a dancer has been in the building that has tested positive for COVID, an email will be sent to the class of that dancer. Please note that the dancer’s name and information will not be shared. Social distancing, sanitation, and health measures are to be ensured the entire time a dancer is in the building, between classes, and upon entrance and exit of the studio, and therefore it will be up to the discretion of each family if they would like their dancer to continue coming to their class in the building after being notified. Any studio or studio space that has suspected to have had someone having had tested positive for COVID-19 in it for an extended period of time, will be cleaned with a high level sterilant to assure sanitation, in addition to the regular cleaning routines done. Zoom options are available; please contact the studio.

What happens if the government has another shut down?

We can’t ever know what the future holds. We do know that the MDC staff is ready and prepared for all possible situations, including a seamless transition to a virtual platform in the event that is to occur. All virtual classes will be held in at the same time, duration, and tuition as our in-studio classes for the 2020-21 season, should anything occur.

What about springtime? My dancer and family is so looking forward to getting back to the stage.

As are we! The MDC Staff is confident and prepared to present our dancer, families and friends with a spring show like none other in 2021. We are ready to Thrive in Season Five!!!!
